If you are a Psychiatrist interested in becoming an assessor of permanent impairment in the NSW Workers compensation system and you have you already competed impairment assessment training in other states or in the NSW Motor Accident Scheme* you might be able to fulfil your training requirement via “assessment only”. No classroom, no flights to catch or traffic to endure, and no waste of time!
What is the assessment only process:
Some medical professionals may have already completed a course similar to one of the modules part of the NSW Workers Compensations permanent impairment assessment training in recent years and do not require to sit the face to face sessions or to attend the webinars.
These medical professionals can complete a specific module of our course simply by completing a competency-based assessment.

Who is eligible for Assessment Only?:
The assessment only process for the Psychiatry module apply to the following three cohorts who have completed training in the evaluation using the Psychiatric Impairment Rating Scale:
- Psychiatrists who have undertaken training in the evaluation of permanent impairment in Queensland in 2016/2017
- Psychiatrists who have undertaken training in South Australia prior to July 2015
- Psychiatrists trained in evaluating permanent impairment in the NSW Motor Accident Scheme
Please note: as part of the registration process, You will be required to upload a certificate of completion or other relevant document showing you meet the eligibility criteria listed above.
After registration is processed, you will receive some reading material and three case studies you will need to complete and return to us for assessment. The case studies will be reviewed by a qualified assessor of permanent impairment. If your answers are deemed satisfactory, you will receive a certificate for the Psychiatric module. If your answers are not fully satisfactory, you will be sent another case study to be completed and submitted.
